A significant shipment was intercepted between January 4 and 8, according to an official statement from the Burkinabe authorities.
The first operation took place at the Cinkansé border post, where officers conducting a thorough inspection of travelers uncovered 872 detonating cords and 7,000 sticks of explosives hidden within a shipment.
A few days later, the Mobile Intervention Unit of the Directorate of Territorial Surveillance carried out a second seizure, confiscating an additional 165 sticks of explosives and 22 detonating cords.
Part of the seized material was handed over to the armed forces for secure destruction, while the remainder has been placed under seal.
