Egypt Inaugurates $116 Million Solar Energy Technology Complex
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly introduced the "Elite Solar" factory complex within the Chinese-Egyptian joint venture "TEDA–Egypt" in the Ain Sokhna industrial area.
The cabinet announced that the complex consists of two state-of-the-art factories:
Elite Solar Suez Technology
Specialization: Solar cells and electronic panels
Site area: 41,835 sqm
Investment: $40 million
Annual capacity: 2 GW
Jobs created: 400 direct, 40 indirect
Impact: Localizes solar industry production in Egypt
Elite Solar Green Energy
Specialization: Solar panels and components
Site area: 35,479 sqm
Investment: $76 million
Annual capacity: 3 GW
Jobs created: 460 direct, 130 indirect
Impact: Advances technology transfer and strengthens renewable energy value chains in the Suez Canal zone
The opening of this complex represents a key step toward localizing renewable energy industries in Egypt, reflecting the state's ability to attract advanced technological investments in future sectors, Madbouly said.
