Egypt Signs $1.8 Billion in Renewable Energy Deals: Media
Norwegian renewable energy developer Scatec will construct a solar energy plant, along with energy storage stations in Minya, a local TV broadcaster reported, citing an Egyptian cabinet statement.
The plant would reportedly feature a 1.7-gigawatt generation capacity, backed by battery storage systems totaling 4 gigawatt-hours.
A second project involves Chinese company Sungrow building a factory for energy storage batteries in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, with part of its output supplying the first project, according to the cabinet.
Egypt aims for renewables to make up 42% of its electricity generation by 2030.
