More Footage: Start of BRICS+ Military Exercise in South Africa
South African Fleet Commander Thamsanqa Matsane welcomed the captains of ships from participating countries ahead of the multinational maritime cooperation exercise "Will for Peace 2026," according to the national armed forces.
Sharing footage of the meeting, the military also published photographs of the Russian ship Stoikiy, docked at the Simon's Town naval base.
Ships from five BRICS countries—South Africa, Russia, Iran, China, and the United Arab Emirates—are participating, according to local media.
Representatives from Indonesia and Ethiopia are taking part as observers. China is in operational command of the maneuvers, which are taking place from January 9 to 16.
