'Multilateralism Strengthens Voice of African Countries': Cameroonian Analyst

Thanks to multipolarity, Africans are "truly able to defend their interests," particularly at the UN, and to "access other sources of funding that contrast with traditional sources," Charly Kengne told Sputnik Africa, commenting on President Paul Biya's recent speech, in which he emphasized the values of multilateralism in today's world.

Multilateralism opens avenues for conflict prevention, "unlike the unilateralism that was advocated in the past, with the United States acting as the sole enforcer," the expert noted.

He recalled that, at the start of the 21st century, unilateralism pushed humanity to the brink of several major crises, as countries that saw themselves as the center of the world often disregarded the interests of others.

In a world that "revolves around three major issues—energy, strategic defense, and globalization," it is imperative to work on strengthening institutions at the international level, the expert insisted.
