Russia Voices Support for Venezuela's New Leadership, Condemns External Interference
Moscow has expressed support for Venezuela's newly sworn-in authorized president, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, who took office on January 5 following a ruling by the country's Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Russia hailed the step as a demonstration of the Bolivarian government's determination to preserve constitutional order, prevent a constitutional crisis, and ensure stability in the face of what it termed "blatant neocolonial threats and armed aggression from outside."
The statement reiterated Moscow’s "unwavering solidarity" with the Venezuelan people and government and affirmed Russia's readiness to continue providing "necessary support" to Caracas.
"We firmly maintain that Venezuela must be guaranteed the right to determine its own destiny without any destructive external interference," the ministry concluded. "The sovereign development of countries in the region must be ensured."
