Liberia Aims to Triple Annual Mining Revenue
The 2025-2029 Strategic Plan envisions increasing mining and energy revenues to over $3 billion annually, compared to $1.16 billion in 2023.
Presented in late December, the government project focuses on enhanced exploration.
The plan also aims to digitize 80% of procedures and state participation in mining projects, compared to approximately 40% currently.
Finally, the country intends to double the number of licensed miners by 2029 (1,000 compared to approximately 500 currently), as well as create 15 artisanal and small-scale mining cooperatives.
The law allows the government to hold between 10% and 15% of the capital of mining companies free of charge.
