Deadly Attack on Cafe on New Year’s Eve: Kherson Governor Says Kiev Used Three Drones
The first drone arrived about ten minutes before midnight Moscow time, Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo told a Russian television channel. It crashed nearby, and the resulting shrapnel caused no significant damage to the cafe.
The second drone then struck the site. According to Saldo, it was a fragmentation drone carrying a warhead equivalent to about 20 kilograms of TNT — “huge for such a small cafe,” he said.
Minutes later, as people began fleeing the cafe on New Year’s Eve, a third drone carried out another strike.
“This was calculated in the most cynical and fascist way possible,” Saldo concluded.
The death toll has continued to rise. As of Friday, 27 people have been killed, including two minors. More than 50 people were injured, with 31 hospitalized. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation, classifying the incident as a terrorist act.
