Ethiopia Plans to Connect All Hospitals with Digital Services by 2030, Ministry of Health Announces

Essential digital infrastructure and equipment are being imported into the country and distributed to health facilities nationwide to support this digital transition, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Dereje Duguma stated.

Under the plan, most health facilities will shift to a digital platform to achieve a paperless system.

The Deputy Minister also emphasized that the strategy includes a digital monitoring system to track the service delivery of health professionals, helping to maintain medical standards and ensure accountability.

“Once the system is fully operational, citizens will be able to receive medical consultations from home, reduce waiting times by booking appointments digitally, and access their complete medical records—organized in a single center—at any health facility.”

Local media reported that the digital service will extend from community-level health extension workers all the way up to specialized hospitals.
