Namibian Military Commander Visits Russian Corvette During Port Call in Walvis Bay: Russian Embassy

A Russian Baltic Fleet task force, consisting of the corvette Stoiky and the medium sea tanker Yelnya, made a working visit to the Namibian port from December 28 to 31, 2025, the embassy announced.

The visit culminated in a reception onboard the Stoiky, hosted in the name of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, the Russian diplomatic mission said in a statement.

Namibia's chief of the defense force, along with other senior Namibian Navy officers and representatives from security agencies, attended the event. Russia's ambassador to Namibia also visited the ships during the port call.

"The third visit by Russian warships to Namibia in two years is a significant event in the countries' political relationship, highlighting the special nature of their bilateral ties," the Russian embassy said.
