Russia's Vladimir Putin, Other World Leaders Congratulate Sudan's Al-Burhan on 70th Independence Anniversary
President Putin has sent congratulations to Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council, on the occasion of the country's 70th anniversary of independence, the Sudanese presidency announced without disclosing the contents of the message.
Other world leaders, including Egypt's Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, King Salman of Saudi Arabia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia, and Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, also extended their congratulations to al-Burhan.
Putin and al-Burhan last met in person in 2019 on the sidelines of the first Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi. The Sudanese leader is also expected to attend the Russia-Arab summit, which was initially scheduled for October 2025, but postponed for later due to developments in the Middle East.
