Ethiopia Announces Plan to Develop Coffee-Based Food and Beverage Tourism: Ministry
Coffee’s history and value are set to be utilized by integrating it with cultural tourism, according to the Ministry of Tourism. The aim is to build Ethiopia’s international image, attract foreign visitors, and leverage the sector’s potential.
Collaborative efforts are underway to expand tourism options by creating opportunities for international visitors to experience coffee culture firsthand, the ministry explained.
Tourists will also be able to participate not only in traditional coffee ceremonies but also in coffee harvesting and forest product gathering processes, according to the statement.
Major coffee-producing areas such as Yirgalem, Yirgacheffe, Jimma, and Kefa have been identified as primary focuses for this tourism initiative, according to local media.
