In a first for Ghana’s correctional system, Kumasi Central Prison held its maiden Inmates’ Runway Fashion Show—transforming the yard into a vibrant runway of kente, batik, tie-dye, northern smocks, and modern outfits, mostly made by inmates through vocational training, local media reported.
“Today is not about incarceration; it is about capability. This fashion show demonstrates that within these walls are talents waiting for opportunity. It reflects our commitment to reform and reintegration,” Officer-in-Charge of Kumasi Central Prison James B. Mwinyelle was quoted as saying.
