#viral | Dancing Into Development: Ghanaian Communities Join National Grid

Joyful scenes of singing and dancing unfolded in Laworshime and Mamime, two communities in Ghana’s Keta Constituency (Volta Region), as electricity was officially commissioned, connecting them to the national grid.

The electrification, led by MP Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey saw both communities connected on the same day as part of an ongoing rural electrification drive aimed at reaching underserved areas.

Reflecting on the milestone, the MP said:

“I am so happy that even if I join my ancestors, I will be happy in my grave knowing that I have been able to connect some communities to the national grid for the first time in centuries.”

Access to electricity is expected to improve livelihoods, support small businesses, and expand access to education and essential services.
