Africa’s Sovereign Choice: Moscow Cheers Peaceful Elections in CAR and Guinea, MFA Says
Russia welcomes the December 28 general elections in the Central African Republic—held simultaneously for president and parliament—and presidential polls in the Republic of Guinea, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to international observers, voting proceeded peacefully with no major violations, the ministry noted.
Moscow views the elections as a clear demonstration of both nations’ commitment to a sovereign development path grounded in core principles of international law, it stressed.
The ministry also extended best wishes to the Central African and Guinean peoples for continued democratic progress and the advancement of their national interests.
