Russian Orthodox Church in Africa Donates Aid to Flood Victims in Kenya
Thanks to donor generosity, Archimandrite Sotirios (Matumbi) and Priest Samson Gutu distributed humanitarian aid to 150 families, according to a statement from the Russian Orthodox Church's Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
Recipients received:
🟠 650 kg of rice;
🟠 230 kg of beans;
🟠450 kg of maize flour;
🟠60 liters of oil;
🟠 15 mattresses and 80 blankets;
🟠10 bags of clothing.
“People are dying, families are losing their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. It’s especially hard for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities,” said Samson Gutu.
Rising waters of Lake Naivasha have displaced thousands in the Rift Valley. Wildlife has also been affected: zebras, giraffes, and antelopes had to be evacuated from some reserves.
