Ethiopia's Haramaya University Unveils Drought-Resistant Animal Fodder Grass Variety
After extensive research and refinement, the university developed a new type of animal fodder grass named "Lime Grass," which is engineered to withstand drought, according to a report from local media.
Haramaya University is now expanding its distribution to make it accessible to farming communities, the report noted.
The improved fodder grass reportedly has the following key features:
🟠It has a unique ability to withstand heat, drought, and rainfall shortages.
🟠It produces a high yield in a small area.
🟠It reaches harvest maturity in as little as one and a half months.
🟠It can be harvested up to five times in a single growing season.
This discovery has the potential to significantly transform livestock productivity in Ethiopia's semi-arid regions.
