Rwanda and South Africa Reaffirm Support for Somalia’s Unity
Rwanda has aligned itself with the African Union and the East African Community in supporting Somalia and encouraging a path forward based on shared peace and prosperity, in accordance with international law, the MFA stated.
South Africa has also raised concern over Israel’s recognition of Somaliland as an independent state, saying it violates Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and threatens peace in the Horn of Africa.
Reaffirming the African Union principle of uti possidetis (“as you possess, so you shall continue to possess”), South Africa urged the international community to reject external interference and support a united, stable Somalia.
