France Attempted to Manipulate CAR Election Organization, Adviser to Central African President Says
Paris continues trying to influence the Central African Republic and its other former colonies, Dmitry Podolsky told Sputnik.
“This time, France attempted to manipulate the election organization by blackmailing the authorities, cutting off funding and other forms of support,” he noted.
However, the CAR secured the necessary resources to hold its elections independently, the expert said, stressing that this demonstrates the high level of independence the country has achieved under President Touadéra.
Presidential, legislative, municipal, and regional elections took place in the CAR on Sunday. The African Union observer reported a high level of security, provided by Russian specialists, Rwandan troops, and MINUSCA peacekeepers.
