Côte d’Ivoire: Low Voter Turnout in Legislative Elections

More than eight million voters were expected to cast their ballots on Saturday to elect 255 members of parliament across 205 electoral districts.

According to provisional results released overnight by the Independent Electoral Commission, voter turnout stood at 32.34%, down from 37.88% in the previous legislative elections held in 2021.

The National Assembly, which has 255 seats, is currently composed of 163 members from the RHDP, 66 from the PDCI, 18 from the PPA-CI, and 4 independents, with four seats vacant. Of the 1,370 candidates registered for the elections, 181 are women.
