Explosion at Mosque in Northeastern Nigeria Kills At Least Seven People: Reports

The explosion occurred at a mosque in Maiduguri during evening prayers, media reported on Wednesday.

Improvised explosive devices were allegedly installed at a mosque in the city market and exploded at around 17:00 GMT.

No armed groups immediately took responsibility for what militia leader Babakura Kolo described as a suspected bombing.

ℹ Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, has been at the center of a longstanding insurgency involving jihadist groups such as Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State West Africa Province. However, the city has not experienced a major attack in recent years.
