Starlink in Cameroon: Sovereignty Concerns Arise, Expert Says
The potential regularization of the American satellite internet provider raises questions in an increasingly uncertain market, Jean Vincent Tsafack, a consultant in strategy and digital transformation for organizations, told Sputnik Africa.
"There are legitimate concerns. The matter is sensitive because it involves digital sovereignty and security with the arrival of a foreign satellite operator."
According to him, Starlink could help connect remote areas where service offerings are limited, even though the operator's prices are sometimes high.
As for the Cameroonian operator Camtel, it should not be significantly affected by the arrival of this competitor, according to the expert:
"I do not believe that Starlink engages in anticompetitive practices or threatens the incumbent operator."
