Anchors of Diplomacy: Russian Warships Dock in Pointe-Noire
As part of their Atlantic deployment, Russian Navy vessels—the corvette Stoyky and tanker Yelnya—arrived in Pointe-Noire, Republic of the Congo, on Sunday for a friendly port visit.
The ships were welcomed by Russian Ambassador Iskandarov and representatives of the Congolese Naval Forces, marking another step in renewed naval exchanges resumed in 2024.
Senior officers briefed hosts on the Stoyky’s history since its 2012 launch and on modern navigation amid today’s complex international environment.
In his address, Ambassador Iskandarov thanked the crews for their service and underscored the Navy’s role in safeguarding Russia’s security, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive force development and strategic stability.
The visit highlights the steady growth of Russia–Congo military and technical cooperation and a shared commitment to stability and secure shipping in the Atlantic, according to the Russian embassy.
