Guinea Kicks Into High Gear With New National Instant Payment System: Central Bank
In addition to allowing citizens to send and receive money instantly, according to the country's central bank, the new system aims to:
🟠facilitate government payments;
🟠reduce administrative costs;
🟠stimulate financial inclusion, particularly in rural areas;
🟠provide a platform for innovation for fintech companies.
"At a time when global economies are transforming rapidly, payment infrastructure is an essential pillar of a country's competitiveness. Guinea must not be left behind in this dynamic," said Karamo Kaba, governor of the Central Bank, at the launch ceremony.
Similar systems in Nigeria, Ghana, and India have proven successful, the bank pointed out.
