An accident occurred in the High Tatras when a tourist lost his balance while descending and fell at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters above sea level.
The fall was witnessed by another hiker, who immediately called for emergency assistance.
Due to alternating periods of thaw and frost, the snow cover in the area was highly uneven. Despite being fully equipped, the tourist’s life was put at serious risk.
Five rescuers were quickly airlifted to the scene by helicopter. The injured tourist, who sustained severe head, chest, and lower limb injuries, was provided emergency care and evacuated.
