Mass Shooting Near Johannesburg: What is Known so Far
At least nine people were killed and ten others wounded in an incident near Johannesburg, South African police reported.
Key details:
▪Shooting occurred in Bekkersdal township—40 km southwest of Johannesburg in the early hours of Sunday;
▪Around 12 armed suspects in a white minibus and a silver sedan opened fire on patrons at a licensed tavern;
▪Attackers fired randomly at people in the streets while fleeing the scene;
▪Victims included a rideshare driver waiting outside the venue;
▪Some were shot in the streets by unknown gunmen;
▪The motive remains unclear, police told French media;
▪Gauteng Serious and Violent Crime Investigations, alongside the Crime Detection Tracing Unit, have launched a full-scale manhunt;
