This episode explores Russian President Putin's annual Question & Answer session, and how African nations are actively architecting a future defined by strategic sovereignty and diversified partnerships, by deepening alliance with Russia during Russia–Africa Partnership Forum held in Cairo.
After Russian President Vladimir Putin's annual 'Direct Line' Q&A session and his year-end press conference, where he reviewed the year 2025 and interacted with reporters and the public, Dr. Mohammed Hussain, a political science lecturer from Financial University in Sudan, shared his perspectives with Sputnik Africa.
“Let me first hit this by saying that today's Vladimir Putin's year-end press conference actually reinforced his narrative of resolute leadership amid the Ukrainian conflict, economic stability, and Western pressure. Actually, these events, I can say that [they convey] control and optimism to the domestic audience while standing firmly internationally. Putin's annual press conference and direct line sessions cultivate an image of accessibility and decisiveness, allowing direct engagement with citizens to frame policy success like military advance and economic resilience. This influences public understanding by emphasizing Russia's strategic gains,” the expert noted.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attended the second ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum . Sputnik Africa’s correspondents present interacted with Hon. Amb. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Namibia's minister of international relations and trade, during the event.
“If you look at the draft outcome for this ministerial conference, it's very strong on economic issues as well as social issues, recognizing that Africa can not only be a source of raw materials, but we can also contribute to South-South cooperation. What we are discussing with the Russian Federation, while it is confined to Africa, it really speaks to the economic aspirations of countries outside Africa in terms of South-south cooperation. We continue to collaborate with the Russian Federation at all the multilateral areas. So we are very happy with what we are going to discuss because we are showing the world the way forward. We are saying we must come together because all of us can contribute to create a world that is beneficial to everybody,” the minister indicated.
