The current acceleration of partnerships between Russia, Turkey, the UAE, and a number of other countries with Africa is taking place against the backdrop of a declining presence of the EU and the US on the continent, Denys Reva, a research fellow at the Pretoria-based Institute for Security Studies, told Sputnik.
"We are witnessing the emergence of a multipolar international order in which there is no real hegemon," the expert noted.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced a new "era of flourishing Russian-African friendship."
