India & Ethiopia Sign Debt Restructuring MoU Under G20 Common Framework
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed hosted an official reception for Modi at the National Palace, followed by bilateral talks focusing on expanding cooperation and exploring new areas of collaboration reflecting their shared priorities.
Several agreements were signed, including MoUs on:
🟠customs cooperation,
🟠the establishment of a data center at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
🟠an arrangement for UN peacekeeping training, highlighting both countries’ commitment to international peace and security.
During the visit, Ethiopia and India agreed to elevate ties to a strategic partnership, marking a new phase in their relations. Cooperation was expanded in education, technology, and health.
India also announced it will:
🟠double ICCR scholarships for Ethiopian students,
🟠introduce short-term AI training courses under the ITEC program, and
🟠support maternal and neonatal healthcare at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Addis Ababa.
