Ethiopia & India Are Exploring Ways to Conduct Trade in Their Own Currencies: Ethiopian Lecturer
During Indian PM's visit to Ethiopia, this currency trade issue could become a main agenda item in their discussions, International Relations and Diplomacy Lecturer of the Wachamo University, Mulualem Hailemariam, told Sputnik Africa.
The speaker also recalled that Ethiopia had previously made a similar agreement with the United Arab Emirates.
"Although the BRICS [of which both India and Ethiopia are members] currency still has a long way to go, work is underway on a BRICS cross-border payment platform to facilitate currency exchange in trade between countries," he pointed out.
