BRICS Must Eradicate Neo-Colonialism Via Multipolar Sovereignty, South African Scholar Says
BRICS has a critical role in dismantling lingering colonial structures, Dr. Rasigan Maharajh of the Tshwane University of Technology stressed at a Valdai Club discussion in Moscow themed “Decolonization: 65 Years On.”
Why BRICS must prioritize this path, according to Maharajh:
🟠to drive collective anti-colonial efforts and foster genuine national development;
🟠to replace neo-colonial structural adjustments that deepened poverty, weakened institutions, and left unsustainable infrastructure;
🟠to establish multipolar, polycentric development models that equitably benefit all nations;
🟠to enable smooth transitions in infrastructure, industries, and knowledge systems;
🟠to strengthen BRICS+ partnerships, turning nominal independence into real intellectual and economic sovereignty;
🟠to maintain the anti-colonial fight until UN Resolution 1514 is fully honored and neo-colonialism is eliminated in every form.
