President Ruto Appoints Guinness Record Holder as Ambassador for Kenya's Environmental Initiative

The actions of Trufena Mutoni, who broke the record by hugging an indigenous tree for 72 hours straight, "deeply symbolic" and raise "national and global awareness on environmental conservation and climate change," William Ruto said.

“In recognition of her courage, fortitude, and laudable leadership, I have appointed her as an Ambassador of the 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign, a signature national initiative dedicated to securing Kenya’s environmental future.”

In addition to the appointment, President Ruto conferred upon Mutoni the Head of State Commendation Medal.

Trufena and her team were also granted a fully paid vacation. Furthermore, the Ministry of Environment will support her ambition to visit Brazil to expand her knowledge of nature conservation.
