DRC's Pro-Government Armed Groups Reportedly Form National Command to Coordinate War Effort
The Wazalendo movement has created a national executive directorate to centralize the efforts of over 250 armed groups supporting the army against rebel forces, French media reported.
The immediate priority is recapturing the strategic city of Uvira, recently seized by AFC/M23 rebels, the coalition's newly elected National Executive Director, Dady Saleh, stated, according to the report.
🪖 Officials cited chaotic disorganization and severe supply shortages—such as fighters sharing weapons—as reasons for the urgent consolidation.
While Congolese authorities express support, relations with the national army on the ground reportedly remain tense. The new command allegedly asserts it will seek to harmonize actions and ensure respect for human rights.
