China Urges US to Take Lead in Nuclear Disarmament: Chinese Diplomat
Creating the conditions for global nuclear disarmament "depends entirely on the United States," Liu Pengyu, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, told Sputnik.
"China always maintains its nuclear capabilities at the minimum level necessary for national security. It never participates in an arms race with anyone," Liu emphasized.
He called on the United States, as the nation with the largest nuclear arsenal, to fulfill its "special and primary responsibility" by making further reductions to its stockpiles.
