The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) simulated the explosion of a "dirty bomb" using sources of ionizing radiation in a crowded place, Major General Alexey Rtishchev, Chief of the Russian Armed Forces’ Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops stated.

Russian forces possess SBU training materials that include scenarios involving “the theft of ionizing radiation sources, the fabrication of an explosive device, and its detonation in a crowded public place.”

He noted that such devices can be produced from spent nuclear fuel or calibration radioactive sources and warned of the risk of false-flag use.

Separately, Rtishchev confirmed that Kiev is preparing to use chemical warfare agents delivered by drones.

Documents recovered from a destroyed Ukrainian drone control post detail technical requirements for the heavy-lift UAV Baba Yaga, approved by Ukrainian authorities in 2024. According to the documents, the UAV must be capable of delivering artillery shells filled with “nerve, blister, or asphyxiating agents.”

Rtishchev stressed that these actions constitute a direct violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention and demonstrate Kiev’s authorization of combat chemical agent use.
