Current US national security strategy suggests it’s willing to pressure Europe & Ukraine — expert

The latest version of the document also signals the US is ready to give Russia additional guarantees to settle the Ukrainian conflict, non-resident fellow at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft Eldar Mamedov wrote in an article for American Conservative.

"The logic of the NSS suggests Washington may be prepared to increase pressure on Kiev and Europe, or offer further assurances to Moscow, to achieve its paramount objective of ending the war," he said.

The time of the US subordinating its national interests and “propping up the entire world order like Atlas” is gone, as the new national security strategy is based firmly on the "America First" principle, Mamedov added.

"The document’s stark language, declaring an urgent priority to end the war in Ukraine, has been met with a mixture of outrage and denial from transatlantic elites," the expert noted.
