Tanzania Respects West — and Expects the Same: Expert Reacts to US Review of Bilateral Ties Amid Alleged Post-Election Tensions
Tanzania has never interfered in the internal affairs of Western nations and expects the same respect in return — especially as external pressure risks undermining political and economic stability ahead of the country’s Independence Day, said Dr. Godwill G. Wanga, Executive Secretary of the Tanzania National Business Council.
Wanga reaffirmed Tanzania’s non-aligned foreign policy, stressing equal treatment of all global partners:
“We have been working and solidifying diplomatic relationship with all countries including Russia. We do not have double treatment… we have been working with Western countries as well as European countries, Asian countries and sub-Saharan countries, in the same treatment,” he told Sputnik Africa.
He added that any US assessment should rely on official facts and proper engagement with the government to avoid misinterpretation of Tanzania’s internal affairs.
