Ghanaian Media Professionals Engage in SputnikPro Session on Cross-Media Collaboration
Ghanaian journalists participated in a SputnikPro session focused on fostering international media partnerships.
Organized in collaboration with the Russian Embassy in Ghana and the Ghana-Russia Centre for Commerce and Relations (GRCCR), the event provided a valuable opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, the generation of ideas, and the cultivation of stronger connections between media organizations in both countries.
Vasily Pushkov, Director of International Cooperation at Rossiya Segodnya media group, delved into the critical role of cross-border engagement in today's journalism landscape.
“Working across borders with other media companies makes both parties' news more engaging and diverse. This is precisely what audiences expect from international cooperation — a more vibrant and colorful media landscape,” he stressed.
Natalya Muzhennikova, Counsellor at the Russian Embassy in Ghana, underscored the power of direct dialogue:
“First-hand information is crucial for mutual understanding and effective cooperation. Indeed, information today is a powerful productive force capable of shaping objective reality. In this context, the role of journalists is vital, as the way they present information can determine whether Russia-Africa relations are perceived through the lens of truth or misconception”.
Ziona Ayorkor Holm, Head of Business Development and Innovations at GRCCR, elaborated:
“Cross-media collaboration isn’t just about working together; it’s about understanding each medium’s unique strengths and challenges. It’s also about sharing skills, learning from one another, and pushing the boundaries of storytelling through panel discussions and workshops like this.”
The session sparked lively engagement, with Ghanaian journalists posing numerous questions on the nuances of Russian journalism and opportunities for joint ventures.
