Africa's Air Fleet Set to Double by 2044: US Aviation Manufacturer
Africa is one of the fastest-growing regions in Boeing’s latest forecast, fueled by a young population and a rapidly developing economy.
Key insights from the Commercial Market Outlook 2025–2044:
🟠Passenger traffic growth: about 6% annually — among the highest rates worldwide.
🟠Fleet expansion: projected to reach 1,680 aircraft by 2044.
🟠New aircraft deliveries: 1,205 units.
🟠Aftermarket services demand: roughly $130 billion (maintenance, repairs, training, spare parts, and modifications).
🟠New workforce needed: 74,000 pilots, technicians, and cabin crew.
Although the potential is significant, Africa’s air services are still developing. Regulatory hurdles and the limited presence of low-cost carriers — just 1% of regional capacity — have slowed network growth.
With short-haul travel yet to fully expand, the continent offers considerable untapped opportunities for its aviation sector, according to the outlook.
