Africa's Journey to Fairness: Countering ICC Bias

“First of all, let me say that the ICC is somebody's instrument, and it has always been used by these global institutions to further an interest. Remember, who funds ICC? That person funds what he funds, and therefore he has an interest. Remember, there's a common saying that says that whoever pays [for] the flute actually determines the sound. So, that is the main thing, which is the reason why they have been accused of being biased, because they cannot do something against the funders.”

This episode of #PanAfricanFrequency explores how the situation with Tanzania seemingly fits into the broader pattern of selective justice for African countries by the ICC. In the interview with Professor Fredrick Ogola, the deputy vice chancellor of resource mobilization & innovation at Uzima University, Kenya, who is also an aspiring presidential candidate of Kenya in 2027, he discussed why Africa must reject being a perpetual subject of Western scrutiny and why the pursuit of a just international system must be prioritized.

Tune in to listen to how Tanzania and other African states must reinforce their sovereignty and prevent international judicial mechanisms from being misused as political instruments.
