Russia is ‘Timely’ Partner for Ghana’s Development: Ghanaian Diaspora Representatives

Ghana’s strengthening engagement with Russia reflects a shift toward diversified global cooperation, Zing Micah Yinpang Bavi, President of NDC-Russia Proforum (Ghana), told Sputnik Africa.

He argued that the partnership aligns with Ghana’s non-aligned foreign policy and supports President Mahama’s vision of expanding international relationships to meet national development needs.

Bavi highlighted education, agriculture, transport and energy as the most promising areas of cooperation — not symbolic ties, but practical avenues for skill-building, machinery acquisition and technology exchange. He noted ongoing collaboration with Russian institutions aimed at training Ghanaian engineers and professionals for long-term capacity growth.

Ebenezer Yaw Wepari, President of the Association of Compatriots, Ghanaian Community, agreed that the relationship holds economic value, particularly through increasing trade in oil, grain and machinery. He added that Ghana could benefit further from equipment that improves food preservation and storage, reducing import loss and strengthening food security.
