Russia Ready to Support African Nations in Building Independent Media Space: Senior Lawmaker
"We see how Western media maintain dominance in the continent's information space, forming a distorted picture of events. This is already information neocolonialism," Duma Vice Speaker Alexander Babakov told Russian media.
The Russian lawmaker emphasized the need for an "alternative, independent, Africa-oriented information environment." Babakov contrasted Russia's approach with Western policies:
"Russia comes to Africa not with dictates, not imposing models, and not seeking control. For us, Africa is an equal partner."
The lawmaker affirmed Russia's readiness to provide practical assistance at both governmental and expert levels, supporting African nations' path toward economic and political independence through concrete actions rather than empty promises.
