Egypt's Economy Grows 5.3% Year-on-Year During First Quarter of 2025/2026 Fiscal Year
The country’s GDP growth significantly outpaced the 3.5% growth recorded during the same period last year. This prompted the government to increase its annual growth target from 4.5% to 5%, announced Planning Minister Rania Al-Mashat.
The strong performance follows accelerated economic reforms under an $8 billion IMF program and a major $24 billion investment package from the United Arab Emirates, according to media reports.
These developments reportedly mark a notable recovery for North Africa's largest economy, which had seen growth slow to 2.4% in 2023/24 amid currency devaluation, high inflation, and regional conflict impacts.
