AES Solidarity: Niger Sends Mali Over 4 Million Liters of Petroleum Products, Cabinet Says
At least 82 fuel tankers have been delivered, according to a report from Mali's Council of Ministers meeting. The shipment is valued at 3.3 billion CFA francs, or $5.8 million.
A "significant contingent" of AES armed forces escorted the fuel trucks from Niamey to Bamako, the statement said.
Last week, to ease the long lines at gas stations, the Malian government shortened the customs clearance times for fuel from 72 hours to 24.
Bamako and nearby towns have been under blockade by the al-Qaeda*-affiliated terrorist group JNIM since September. More than a hundred fuel tankers have been burned during that period.
