Museveni, Ruto Unveil New $500 Mln Steel Factory in Uganda, Supporting Regional Industrial Growth
The construction of the Devki Steel Factory in Tororo is an essential step to "liberate Africa from centuries of exploitation," President Museveni stated.
"For over 500 years, we have been losing value through slavery, colonialism, and the export of raw materials," he added.
The new facility is expected to employ 15,000 Ugandans, Museveni noted.
"This transformative investment will not only serve Uganda but also Kenya and the region," his Kenyan counterpart, President Ruto highlighted.
The Devki Factory, he added, would also:
🟠create new value chains;
🟠cut import bills;
🟠propose new opportunities.
