South Africa Will Pass G20 Presidency to US at 'Appropriate Level': FM
The US aimed to carry out the G20 presidency handover through the charge d’affaires at its embassy in South Africa, Ronald Lamola said at a conference on the sidelines of the summit.
The handover must be conducted either by the head of state or, at minimum, by a minister who has been formally appointed by the president of the US, the minister noted.
The move “cannot in any way strain relations,” because the handover will be performed “at an appropriate, equal equivalent” level, Lamola emphasized.
