Nigeria Shuts Schools After Mass Abductions Reach Crisis Level
Federal and state governments across the northern part of the country have ordered immediate school closures following the abduction of 215 students and 12 teachers from St. Mary's School in Niger State.
This marks the second major kidnapping within days, after 26 schoolgirls were taken from a Kebbi secondary school.
President Bola Tinubu has already deployed Defense Minister Bello Matawalle to coordinate rescue operations in Kebbi.
The Federal Ministry of Education closed 41 unity colleges, while Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Benue, and Katsina states implemented broader shutdowns.
