Ethiopia Launches First Central Securities Depository & National Investor Portal, Says National Bank
The Central Securities Depository system will enable secure, electronic handling of securities—including ownership transfers, clearing, and settlement—bringing Ethiopia in line with international financial standards, according to the NBE.
Simultaneously, the National Investor Portal "Ts'ega" (meaning "wealth" in Amharic) provides investors with real-time access to securities information directly from the national depository.
These developments represent significant upgrades to Ethiopia's financial ecosystem, supporting the NBE's strategic goals of enhancing market transparency, promoting financial inclusion, and transitioning toward market-based monetary policy, the central bank said.
