Ethiopia Aims to Become Global Leader in Pulses and Oilseeds Exports, Says Trade Minister
The government is implementing policies to improve production, enhance product quality, and strengthen the country's competitiveness in international markets, according to Kassahun Gofe.
The minister made the announcement during the opening of the 14th International Conference on Pulses and Oilseeds in Addis Ababa.
Gofe cited significant expansion in production volume and variety, driven by government programs and investments.
Pulses and oilseeds accounted for over $610 million, or 7.35% of Ethiopia's total exports, in the past fiscal year, according to the minister.
The conference, organized with the Ethiopian Pulses and Oilseeds Exporters Association, brought together over 600 local and international participants to address value chain challenges and build partnerships toward achieving Ethiopia's export ambitions.
