Niger to Invest $106 Mln in Agro-Industrial Center in Maradi Irrigation Zone
The center will be located in the "Djirataoua hydro-agricultural perimeter," a polyculture zone near the city of Maradi, benefiting from a year-round production system, President Abdourahamane Tiani announced during his national tour.
Covering over 600 hectares, the area produces bananas, eggplants, moringa, corn, sorghum, and millet, as well as processed peanut-based products.
President Tiani also announced:
🟠expansion of the production zone area;
🟠creation of a dry port;
🟠near completion of the railway connecting Kano (Nigeria) to Maradi.
He urged business operators to invest in establishing factories to process local products on-site, which would help foster the creation of new enterprises led by young people.
